According to United Nations Food & Agriculture Organization, Wheat production is estimated about 71.7 crore tonne in world in 2016-17. On the basis of good crop in Europe, Russia and Ukraine, Organisation estimated that 40 lakh tonne wheat production may improve this year. According to organization, this year global wheat production may be 71.7 crore tonne. However, it is still lower than last year’s 73.7 crore tonne. According to organization, carry over stock also improved by 1 million tonne. Production improved in Europe, Russian and Ukraine whereas on the other hand production fell in India due to drought. First of all droughts affected the crop in India and after that on the time of harvesting heavy rains again affected the production.
Organisation said in a report release in April, no consumption will increase this year. Consumption is estimated about 72.3 crore tonne but according to report released in May. It is estimated more than 10 lakh tonne. However, it is almost equal in volume compared to last year. Organisation has reported that this year’s total grain output is expected to be 2.526 billion tonne whereas last year it was noted 2.521 billion tonne
